Role description
What are the responsibilities of a Solution Engineer? Well, let’s try to dig into that!


We perceive, that in the role Solution Engineer You work in close co-operation with Stakeholders and translate the business needs into requirements for the IT solution. The requirements might need support from the development team of our IT-solutions or be hands-on configuration changes in the setup of the IT-solutions. You will be part of the team that performs these configurations and implement the changes in the factory. Our delivery team operates in a global environment, where we together with the Volvo’s factories make sure, that our production critical IT-solutions important for manufacturing, works according to expectations.


We are in a transformation towards a more agile, product focused way of working, where the goal is to work with a DevOps mindset and shorten time to market for our Applications.

Your main focus will be to:
Understand customer needs, in close cooperation with them.
Become an expert of our IT-applications and the way they operate in the factories.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Solution Engineer, who has a passion for understanding the needs of the customer and getting the details right. Required knowledge/experience:
University degree in Computer Science, Development or similar
Experience from working with Agile, DevOps or similar methodologies.
Experience from automotive industry is an advantage.
Experience from working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
Knowledge in IT Test activities is an advantage.

Excellent spoken and written English.

You will be part of a development team responsible for delivering global solutions to our factories around the world. The entire team is located in Skövde, Sweden, and work at least half of the time on site.


Qualifications
Solid Experience within .NET C#, or highly skilled in similar languages
A university degree in computer science or similar
Experience from agile development, working in teams
Ability to establish and maintain good relations with stakeholders

About the job
You will join the Time Critical Support (TCS) Remote team in Skövde as IT Support Specialist and be an essential part of our constant strive for Customer Success! Your main focus will be to provide support to the business with a sense of urgency and with high quality. The IT Support Specialist will provide support remotely in a broad scope.
The daily work, which is supported by tools such as Service Now, Jabber and AD aims at providing Volvo Group´s different businesses with rapid and relevant 1st line support. This job requires cross-functional collaboration between your own team, stakeholders, Onsite teams, HCL and other teams within Group IT.
This role comes with a great responsibility as you function as the first and, sometimes only, contact between the production plant and the service providers in Group IT. There are shifts where you will be working alone and need to evaluate situations and make difficult decisions in order to keep the production going. Your only focus at all times should be to contribute to as much uptime in applications and infrastructure as possible! The role is complex due to the need of multitasking throughout the shift – phone calls, emails, collaboration, surveillance and coordination is always required to be able to deliver the expected support.

Some of the activities you will be working with are
Provide the end user with the support that is agreed upon
Provide information to stakeholders in the event of operational disturbances
Create and own cases throughout their lifecycle
Drive the identification and escalation of problems in supported services and solutions
Incident management
Request management
Knowledge management
Access rights management
Contribute to continues improvement in the team



About you
We expect you to have a degree from university studies and a couple of years of experience working with IT, application support or technical support in production or similar. Your basic knowledge of ITIL processes, support tools such as Remedy, Service Now or similar, as well as AD knowledge will give you the necessary foundation to deliver good results. In addition, you are a great team player who strive to further develop yourself and others.


Qualifications / requirements for the job
2-3 years of experience from working with remote support or similar
Previous experience from IT within manufacturing industry
Good experience in incident process (ITIL)
Good knowledge in AD
Experience from working with continuous improvements in a team
Good communication skills in English and Swedish, both spoken and written
Driving license
